for JCL Studio

In 2018, my other three partners and I founded The Joycrafts Leather Studio, namely JCL, in Shanghai, China. The studio as a mini brand focuses especially on producing high-quality handmade leather products such as wallets, bags and cardholders. In addition, the brand also tries to combine East-Asia artistic lifestyle with modern design.

 

I am responsible for the creative designs of our products and branding relevant promoting staffs. This greeting card image, part of the package design, is a shaking hand sense of the customer and our craftsmen. The final design of this greeting card image was executed by Zhang Lei, a very talented artist who graduated from the China Academy of Art.

"Shaking hands" is a classic gesture that stands for business collaboration and the wish for the smooth process of trades. In this context, the idea is to refine the expression of the brand's gratitude for the customer's purchase and the pursuit of the brand for professional handmaking and craftsmanship. The image contains several essential elements of the brand: the logo, the symbolic water wave patterns and the worker style thimble.
